{"id":2397,"date":"2020-04-13T09:00:04","date_gmt":"2020-04-13T09:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www-dev.absglobal.com\/au\/?p=2397"},"modified":"2020-04-20T01:27:57","modified_gmt":"2020-04-20T01:27:57","slug":"next-generation-sires-shine-in-abv-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www-dev.absglobal.com\/au\/2020\/04\/13\/next-generation-sires-shine-in-abv-release\/","title":{"rendered":"Next generation sires shine in ABV release"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>13th April\u00a02020<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>April ABV release highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Three Holstein proven sires in the top 1 per cent for udders<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Australia\u2019s first top genomic outcross Jersey<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The world\u2019s first Red Sexed (REDX\u2122) sire ranked at number three<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sexcel\u00ae sexed genetic sires and those with top-class udders lead the pack for ABS in the latest Australian Breeding Value (ABV) release.<\/p>\n<p>ABS has three Holstein proven sires in the ABV list with a ranking of more than 110 for Udders, putting them in the top 1 per cent of bulls for this trait.<\/p>\n<p>On top of this, its next generation of Sexcel bulls sit inside the top 20.<\/p>\n<p>ABS Australia Business Operations Manager Bruce Ronalds said these results show farmers can select profitable sires while using Sexcel technology to breed heifers.<\/p>\n<p>The number two ABV proven Holstein bull, 29HO17706 De-Su 12128 <a href=\"https:\/\/absbullsearch.absglobal.com\/details\/bull\/DE-SU%2012128%20TAILOR-ET\/D\/AUS\/HOLSTEIN\/EN\/USA\/USA\">TAILOR<\/a>, ticks a lot of boxes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTAILOR is a fully proven bull in Australia with 94 daughters milking in herds across the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is a stand-out for daughter fertility, cell count and conformation and boasts scores rarely seen in Australia for such a high-ranking bull \u2013 109 for Type and 111 for Udders. The fact he is available in Sexcel, is a bonus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Farmer favourite and high semen fertility bull, 29HO18073 Seagull-Bay Slvr <a href=\"https:\/\/absbullsearch.absglobal.com\/details\/bull\/SEAGULL-BAY%20SLVR%20KIMBALL-ET\/D\/AUS\/HOLSTEIN\/EN\/USA\/USA\">KIMBALL<\/a>, is number 18 in Australia at 325 BPI$ and 111 for Udders.<\/p>\n<p>KIMBALL is the sire of some of Australia\u2019s highest scoring genomically tested heifers owned by south-west Victorian dairy farmers Jamie (Fred) and Jacinta Loveday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe chose KIMBALL because he has a red factor, he was available in Sexcel and had a high genomic test,\u201d Fred, who milks 500 cows at Laang, said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2398\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2398\" class=\"wp-image-2398\" src=\"https:\/\/www-dev.absglobal.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2020\/04\/IMG_0156-lr.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www-dev.absglobal.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2020\/04\/IMG_0156-lr.jpg 5184w, https:\/\/www-dev.absglobal.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2020\/04\/IMG_0156-lr.jpg?resize=300,200 300w, https:\/\/www-dev.absglobal.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2020\/04\/IMG_0156-lr.jpg?resize=768,512 768w, https:\/\/www-dev.absglobal.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2020\/04\/IMG_0156-lr.jpg?resize=1024,683 1024w, https:\/\/www-dev.absglobal.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2020\/04\/IMG_0156-lr.jpg?resize=1536,1024 1536w, https:\/\/www-dev.absglobal.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2020\/04\/IMG_0156-lr.jpg?resize=2048,1365 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2398\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pedigree boost: Jamie (Fred) and Jacinta Loveday, Laang, Victoria used ABS red-factor Holstein and Sexcel\u00ae sire KIMBALL and are reaping the benefits with high genomic test results.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>KIMBALL has more than 30 milking daughters in Australia, with amazing udders and breed-leading fertility and is also available in Sexcel.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next generation Jerseys<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ABS has six of the top 15 genomic Jerseys in the most recent ABV release, one of its strongest Jersey teams in years.<\/p>\n<p>Four of these are bulls are owned in partnership with the Australian Co-operative, Central Sires.<\/p>\n<p>Top of the offering is 29JE4213 Forest Glen Craze <a href=\"https:\/\/absbullsearch.absglobal.com\/details\/bull\/FOREST%20GLEN%20CRAZE%20TRIPP-ET\/D\/AUS\/JERSEY\/EN\/USA\/USA\">TRIPP<\/a> at 212 BPI$, a new bull that is an outcross for the Jersey breed. He also boasts positive milk with high components and balanced type.<\/p>\n<p>ABS Australia Business Operations Manager Bruce Ronalds said TRIPP would add\u00a0much-needed pedigree diversity into Australia\u2019s Jersey herd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe anticipate strong demand because of this outcross, but there\u2019s no doubt farmers will be chasing his production traits as well,\u201d Mr Ronalds said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s not a lot of Jersey bulls that rank positively for components and milk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other top genomic Jersey bulls include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High ranking health trait sire <a href=\"https:\/\/absbullsearch.absglobal.com\/details\/bull\/GALBEADO%20PARK%20DYNAMITE\/Dairy\/AUS\/JERSEY\/EN\/USA\/AUS\">CSCDYNAMITE<\/a> Gelbeado Park Dynamite at 251 BPI$<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/absbullsearch.absglobal.com\/details\/bull\/29JE4205\/D\/AUS\/JERSEY\/EN\/USA\/AUS\">CSCJAMIEO<\/a> Murray Brook Jamieo at 240 BPI$ and 110 Type and 113 Udders<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/absbullsearch.absglobal.com\/details\/bull\/29JE4208\/D\/AUS\/JERSEY\/EN\/USA\/AUS\">CSCTOYOTA<\/a> Auburn Vale Toyota at 230 BPI$ with Daughter Fertility of 107.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Red delight <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australian farmers will soon be able to purchase semen from the first sexed Norwegian Red bull.<\/p>\n<p>252NR11690 <a href=\"https:\/\/uat.datavat.com.au\/bull-details\/detail\/A00035765\/ffde2c7c-6ff8-416f-9833-12d656fbb718\">ROEN<\/a>, with a BPI$ of 260, sits at number three in the recent ABV release and will be released soon as a sexed genetics sire under the REDX\u2122 brand.
